IT: Incentrandosi sull’antica tradizione della Cerimonia del the, una Geisha (interpretata dal pluripremiato attore Marios Ioannou) si interroga sul suo ruolo di “servitrice” o “animatrice” in un sistema basato sul capitale, il consumo e la proprietà. Come icona di bellezza, abituata a sedurre i clienti attraverso il movimento, il canto e la danza, la Geisha conduce gli spettatori in un viaggio attraverso gli abusi del mondo di oggi, dal lavoro minorile, al traffico umano, alla tortura alla schiavitù. L’altissimo prezzo da pagare per il nostro benessere e avidità.
EN: This devised performance questions our motivations and choices within a capitalist system – deeply rooted in historic colonial infrastructures and thinking patterns – in which "advanced" societies conduct their lifestyle on the suffering of others. Developed around the ancient tradition of a Tea Ceremony, a male geisha (award-winning actor Marios Ioannou) begins to question her role as "servant" and "entertainer" operating in a system based on capital, consummation and ownership. As an icon of beauty, well-trained to seduce her customers through movement, song and dance, the Geisha leads the audience on a journey of modern-day abuse, child labor, human trafficking, torture and slavery, and the high price we pay for our joy and greed.
